The Whole Utopianotes Catalog is a modest experiment in resource-sharing with writers, artists, and fellow travelers of any vocation. Each month, you’ll find the largest and most tenderly curated round-up on the internet of grants, fellowships, residencies, calls for submission, jobs, gigs, classifieds, as well as tools for professional development, referral and connection.
The name of the ‘catalog’ is a nod to the legendary Whole Earth Catalog as well as to a term I coined while writing Heaven is a Place on Earth: Searching for an American Utopia: utopianotes (n): an ongoing, participatory record of things (actions, alliances, etc) that, according to the laws of capital and conquest, shouldn’t have been able to happen or exist, but did anyway.

ABOUT ADRIAN SHIRK
I’m a writer, literary agent, teacher, and theater artist. I am the author of two books, And Your Daughters Shall Prophesy, a hybrid memoir exploring American women prophets and mystics, and Heaven is a Place on Earth, a personal odyssey of utopian experiments, both from Counterpoint Press. I represent select projects at Driftless Literary, and am an ensemble member of theater company The Party. During my decade as faculty in Pratt Institute’s Writing Department, I’ve served as an advisor and mentor to hundreds of emerging writers and artists. I live in the Catskills at the experimental arts hub The Mutual Aid Society.
