The Whole Utopianotes Catalog is a modest experiment in resource-sharing with writers, artists, and scrappy fellow travelers of any vocation. Every couple of weeks, you’ll find a sizable round-up of opportunities, classifieds and other useful things.

The name of the ‘catalog’ is a nod to the legendary Whole Earth Catalog as well as to a term I coined while writing Heaven is a Place on Earth: Searching for an American Utopia: utopianotes (n): an ongoing, participatory record of things (actions, alliances, etc) that, according to the laws of capital and conquest, shouldn’t have been able to happen or exist, but did anyway.

The Whole Utopianotes Catalog features an extensive dispatch of grants, fellowships, residencies, calls for submission, jobs, and gigs. The Catalog also features a unique subscriber-generated classifieds section, an NYS Rideshare board (under construction!), and other things TBD.

ABOUT ADRIAN SHIRK
I’m an author, literary agent, teacher, and theatre artist. I have two books, each a mix of memoir and research, And Your Daughters Shall Prophesy (women mystics) and Heaven is a Place on Earth (utopian experiments), both from Counterpoint Press. I work as a literary agent on select projects at Driftless, and I’m an ensemble member of theater company The Party. During my decade of teaching in the BFA Creative Writing Program at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, I’ve served as an advisor and mentor to dozens of emerging writers and artists. I live in the Catskills at the experimental arts hub The Mutual Aid Society.
